Shed and a Half
2009 - Shed and a Half Gallery, London UK
Installation and exhibition
Fair Trade Material Matters was shown at Shed and a Half Gallery, Shoreditch, London UK. The ‘half’ shed, became a small studio space which allowed artists and residents in the area time to draw their self-portraits.
Private views became performative events. This venue extended the growing web-based community of artists, while the installation highlighted temporary and transient living and workspaces.
The Fair-Trade exchange is a deliberate comment on financial value placed on work, often not to benefit the artist. Material Matters related to the process of making in the context of sustainable actions and relationships with suppliers.
